About Mary

Mary is a full-time prenatal, postnatal and private yoga teacher, and a mom of two boys, ages 6 and 9.  Mary found yoga at the age of twelve, when she was struggling with flexibility as a young dance student.  She drifted in and out of yoga for many years from then on.

After her eldest was born in 2014, she struggled with crippling postpartum anxiety.  She remembered how good yoga made her feel, so she started doing classes on YouTube.

Mary started practicing every day.  The more she practiced, the more she found she wanted to share the practice with others.  She completed my initial 200 hour training at Soul Shine Yoga in Fairhope, Alabama while pregnant (and postpartum) with her second son in 2018.

During that time, she realized she wanted to learn more about supporting pregnant and postpartum population with the practices of yoga.  She completed her Pre and Postnatal Yoga Training with Whole Mama Yoga (Carrboo, NC) in 2020, and became a certified pre/postnatal corrective exercise specialist in 2023 (Dr. Sarah Duvall, Core Exercise Solutions).  She has also studied with Francesca Cervero, the creator of The Science of the Private Lesson.

Mary has faced many challenges as a mother: anxiety, depression, chronic pelvic pain, chronic nausea, and pelvic floor dysfunction.  Her yoga practice has been a support through it all, and it is her hope to share these practices with other moms as well.  Mary lives and teaches in Chapel Hill, North Caroline with her husband and two boys.  She teaches locally in-person, as well as offering private and small group classes live online.
